Our Story
Drone Evolution was founded by three long time business partners with extensive experience in drones and service provision to safety critical environments in both public and private sectors.
Together they held a vision of building a best-in-class national drone service to enable multi-site organisations to gain benefit more easily from drones. The objective was simple -.to make people safer and organisations better! The team also had outline plans for improved drone systems that they were looking to make a reality.
The path to success began by gathering and assessing the best of the drone technology available and building an accredited team to the highest standards of training. To further support the vision, we went back to the drawing board on several game changing items of drone technology.
Fortunately, excellent support was on hand at an early stage as the concept attracted the attention of Angels Invest and Development Bank of Wales who provided high level business support and financial backing to help transform the founder’s passion and ideas into reality.
Working with some of the best drone engineers and specialists in power generation available the technical team began work designing, building and testing a range of niche drone products at their South Wales facility.
Today Drone Evolution is one of the leading suppliers of drone-based services with pilots continually working across the UK. The company is also a major player in the tethered drone and specialist powered markets with a global capability to deliver tethered drones, delivery drones and related power solutions.

Drone Evolution are committed to supporting the Armed Forces and have recently been given the Bronze Award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in recognition of their commitment to support the armed forces and their families.

Technology
Development of new products and the provision of drone services and consultancy means that Drone Evolution is uniquely placed to support a huge range of sectors and organisations including construction, utilities, housing associations, local government, facilities management and commercial as well as residential property.
The company provide a range of services including roof inspections, infrastructure inspections, asset inspections and logging, thermal surveys, drains and guttering inspections, stonework surveys, building damage surveys, 3D modelling, topographical surveys and stockpile assessments amongst others.
Drone Evolution has created a national services model, designed to respond to client needs all over the UK with employed pilots (no sub-contractors), meaning a consistency of service right across the country.
Investment in the very latest drone technology now means that we can fly in weather conditions that would have previously been difficult so that flights can be completed when they need to be, rather than waiting for a weather break.
SkyWire & SafeFlight
Drone Evolution has created SkyWire, a patented tethered drone system designed to power a drone for hours at a time from the ground, either directly from a vehicle or from the mains.
This system is unique amongst products of its type in that it is designed to be universal - it is easily adapted to be able to power almost any rotary drone. The first products rolled off the assembly line in November 2020. Constantly curious to drive further innovation, the company is working towards refining SkyWire even further with some exciting new developments in the pipeline.
The company has also invented and patented SafeFlight, an autonomous delivery drone that cannot be jammed or hacked. SafeFlight will use different navigation systems to traditional drones to avoid the risk of being jammed by cheap and widely available GPS jammers and will be guided to a precise landing point with a laser guided landing system.
